Be open to meeting people

When you’re walking look around you and what do you see? You see fellow hikers and pilgrims. These are not weird people trying to do their own thing. They are simply trying to do the same thing and that is to get to Santiago de Compostela.

Their age, gender, or nationality does not matter. What does matter is that for whatever reason they are doing the hike, they chose the same time to do the hike as you. Everyone doing the hike is like you in the sense that at this time in their lives they have chosen to hike the Camino de Santiago. They go through the same experiences as you everyday and surely there is something about that that you can bond over.

Each person you meet is another story, a story just waiting to be told. It is up to you to listen. What makes it all interesting is the people you meet could be from opposite ends of the Earth or they could live only a few hundred kilometers from you. Whatever the case may be, these people are more like you than you expect.

There are always people who do the hike and prefer to stay by themselves. That’s their choice, but they are really missing out.
