Ready your gear to go before you sleep

The most dreaded thing is to wake up and pack your bag. Many people are asleep and don’t like to listen to you rustle plastic bags as you make your pack. Have it all set before you go so that when you do wake up the amount of stuff you have to pack are just the clothes you went to sleep in.

Imagine waking up at 5:30 in the morning and while you are packing your bag everyone is starting to leave gaining a head start on the day. So while you are trying to be polite to the others who are sleeping by not turning on the light you are trying to look for your other shoe or that lotion you used the night before. You can’t find it and precious minutes are going by while you waste time looking for this little trinket.

Believe it or not but this happens all the time whether you are on the Camino or at home. Not being prepared and packed the night before could likely slow you down a lot in the morning. Therefore, while there’s still some daylight in the evening or while people are still awake and the light is on, be sure to get all or at least as much of  your packing done then.
