Use a walking stick

It is important to get a walking stick, I cannot stress this enough. When you’re walking it is easier to have a stick you can place a lot of your weight on it, relieving your legs a little. While one stick is enough, two is always better than one, at least in this case. You’ll also be able to buy some walking sticks along the way but those are just wooden staffs. While they do help, it is not as easy to transfer your weight to it because the stick is as tall as you are. The sticks with proper handles that look like ski poles are the best and I definitely recommend them.


Once, I decided to see how walking was like without using a walking stick. I made it around 2km before I reached back into my bag to get them out. The problem was that I was missing that feeling of a third leg, something to take the weight off. When you’re walking briskly, your feet and legs are the first to feel the pain and if you do not have something else like a walking stick to stabalize you then 2km will feel more like 5km.

    I found that one walking stick worked for me. Two was definitely good. I didn’t like the staff walking stick. Just never got used it I guess. The one featured on this website under equipment, walking sticks is a really good brand. I used those exact ones and I can attest to it.
