Be careful about painful legs

If you have pains in your leg and it does not feel a little better after a nap then you should ask for help. When I got shin splints my pace had slowed down to half and everyone was passing me by. I kept telling myself that this pain was normal and that it was all in my head, it really wasn’t. I knew something was wrong because as I waited at the albergue it did not improve, even with 20min of sitting down and relaxing. So then I decided to take a nap as soon as I got to my bed. Surely some sleep would make my leg feel much better. Well when I woke up two hours later the pain was still there. I did not notice any improvement and I knew something was definitely and seriously wrong.


Thankfully I saw a red cross volunteer walking around town and he gave me some creme for it. What I ended up having were shin splints and if I continued to walk the way I did I would get tendonitis. I stopped walking for the next two days and continued walking on the third day. So once you notice something does not seem right or that you have never felt this pain before, immediately ask around and seek help from  a first aid person.

    Getting painful feet is easy. It really depends on how far you walk and how well you pace yourself. If you don’t do that right, then injury will be common for you.

    as I work in medicine, i have a really bad habit of taking a trauma kit with me. I can help it. I have even treated emergencies on a plane flight. Would medical aid be welcome along the way, or should i resist the temptation?
    I am happy to carry the weight if required.
