There are plenty of great things to read and watch regarding the Camino de Santiago. I have found one of the best written guidebooks written about the Camino and it is something that that you should definitely try taking with you. As well, there are some great videos that give you the perfect sense of what you’ll be seeing along the way.
A Pilgrim’s Guide to the Camino de Santiago
The only book that you will ever need to take with you is A Pilgrim’s Guide to the Camino de Santiago: St. Jean – Roncesvalles – Santiago. It is a light weight, well written and very comprehensive guidebook by John Brierly, covering the Camino de Santiago along the Camino Frances route. This book includes contour guides as well as description of albergue accommodations along the way. I and some of my other friends have read it and it definitely immerses you into the Camino de Santiago.
The Way – A Film by Emilio Estevez
The Way is one of the most beautiful movies I have seen in a long time. It does great justice to the beauty and adventure that is the Camino de Santiago. It is about a man (Martin Sheen) who walks the Camino in memory of his son who died. Not only do you see a film that has such a poignant story but as well you see, through the excellent cinematography, how pleasant and life changing walking the Camino de Santiago can be. To read my review of The Way movie click here. This is definitely every Camino hiker should watch and it is definitely worth owning.
Camino de Santiago, 800km in 60 Seconds
Great cinematography and probably the best summary of 800km of Camino beauty in 60 seconds. Thank you to our friends at Path88Productions.com for making this excellent video.
